Kazatomprom and Orano Group will cooperate in training personnel for the nuclear industry
National Atomic Company Kazatomprom JSC and the French company Orano Group signed a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation in the field of education and training for the nuclear industry at the Kazakhstan-France Business Council meeting, held as part of the official visit of the Head of State to France. This agreement highlights the commitment of both companies to develop highly qualified specialists and stimulate innovation in the nuclear energy sector.
The memorandum provides internships and training programs for specialists of Kazatomprom and its subsidiary Ulba Metallurgical Plant JSC at Orano enterprises, including uranium conversion plants. This will provide an access to advanced technologies, study the experience of French colleagues and adopt the best international practices, which will contribute to their professional development.
“This memorandum is an important step in the development of our relations with the Orano Group, one of the world’s leading players in the nuclear fuel cycle,” said Meirzhan Yussupov, CEO of Kazatomprom. “I am deeply convinced that our people are one of the main resources of the company, therefore, the development of competencies and contribution to the training and advanced training of production personnel is critically important for the future of not only Kazatomprom, but also the domestic nuclear industry.”
The long-term cooperation between Kazatomprom and Orano is being successfully implemented through the joint venture JV KATCO LLP, which produces uranium at the Moinkum deposit in the Turkestan region. The new memorandum opens up prospects for the creation of additional projects, which will help strengthen the positions of both companies in the nuclear industry.
